Pastor’s Welcome

On behalf of the congregation, welcome to our web site! We hope this site will answer any questions you may have about our church.

Dayspring Orthodox Presbyterian Church is a congregation of Christians who love to worship their God, study His Word, grow in godliness through His means of grace, proclaim His gospel to the world, apply themselves to love and good deeds, and care for those around them. We desire to be a center for the worship of God in our community and a training ground for disciples of Jesus Christ.

We call our name “Dayspring”, which means “sunrise”, because it is a word used (Luke 1:78, KJV) by the father of John the Baptist to refer, metaphorically, to the coming Messiah of God’s people, the Lord Jesus Christ, Who is “the Light of the world.” “Orthodox” indicates “straight thinking,” and we call ourselves “Orthodox” because we believe in the straight teachings of God’s infallible Word, the Bible. “Presbyterian” is taken from the Greek word “presbyter,” which means “elder.” We are Presbyterians because our churches are governed by elders, according to the pattern for church government revealed in the Bible. We are a “Church” (from a Greek word, ekklesia, meaning “the assembly of God’s people”) because we are a congregation of those who confess faith in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, a flock of His Covenant people under the care of His shepherds.

Our desire here at Dayspring OPC is to grow and mature in our relationship with Jesus Christ. We are seeking to know and love Him better, and to serve Him in obedience to His Word. We seek to encourage each other in this through the worship services and various activities of the church. We welcome your participation in any of these activities, and will be happy to furnish you with more information about them.

Now I would like to ask you to do something for us. If there is any way we can be of spiritual service to you or your family, or if you have any questions about Dayspring Church, would you let us know? Feel free to call us at 703-754-2929. We would welcome the opportunity to be of assistance to you.

If you are a fellow sinner, in need of God’s refreshing grace, we welcome you to visit with us. We are imperfect sinners, but a gracious God has pursued us, and drawn us to Himself. He is conforming us into the image of His Son. We are truly sinners saved by His grace. He has given us the amazing privilege of serving Him in this world in which He has placed us. We do so with thankful hearts, and with the desire that you join us.

Serving our risen and exalted Savior,
Pastor Bennett B. Wethered
